GENERAL OVERVIEW & LIGHT WORLD
Esme Valentine is a human from The Big City who takes a lot of interest in and deep connection with parapsychology (psychicism). Most people don't take her that seriously and tend to just ignore her. She is the only other human in Hometown* next to Kris. As a school "stereotype" she is considered the pretty girl, but despite her flirtatious mannerisms and carefully chosen aesthetic, she keeps everyone she meets at arms length. With her friends though, she has a sense of intense loyalty - Devotion almost - and may act a bit like a dramaqueen.
Esme is a student at Hometown's school in the same class as the main heroes. She has tan skin, though lighter than Kris's, a deep red - almost like rubies - hair color, and poppy red eyes. She stands just a little taller than Kris (if Kris = 5'5, Esme = 5'6), and her frame is thin. She dresses in a fashion style she refers to as "Neo-Kawaii"; combining the elements of Y2K, "Kawaii aesthetic" and puts a "cute punk" spin on it. Her fashion sense may be inspired by 2009 give or take; ballet-collared shirt, pleated skirt, thigh high socks and mary janes, with the color pallet being pink black and red. Her red hair is worn down, with thick fringe bangs and animal ear like wing tufts at the sides of her head. She wears big hoop earrings and has manicured nails that have gems or decals on them - typically in light pink.
DARK WORLD & ABILITIES
In the Dark world, Esme appears with light pink skintone and bright red hair almost the same color as the SOUL. She wears a light blue (almost white) dress with frills at the end that are a darker blue. The dress seems to sparkle, and the appearance of the attire looks almost princess-like, making her seem weak and delicate. However, this isn't entirely the case.
Esme, as she is human, cannot use magic. However, she uses her connection to astrology and fortune telling to read the moves of enemies. Though she cannot heal, she can ACT in most circumstances, and with her keen eye, can help her friends evade attacks (take less damage if hit).
BACKGROUND / LORE
Esme is from a city which she never says by name ( referring to it just as "The City", or sometimes "The Big City" ). She's fairly secretive about why she moved to HOMETOWN, but it is known to those who are close to her ( such as Kris ) that it was done because of emotional wellbeing and that her father had to take a demotion at his job just to get a work-from-home position. She says that she's never known her biological parents, and that Rambo has always been the one to care for her since she was an infant. This is, however, a lie.
Upon moving to Hometown, Esme did not exactly fit in. Sure, she was deemed the prettiest girl at school, but when she keeps everyone at arm's lengh, it's not like people will fawn forever. Eventually she blended into the crowd. But despite that, Kris noticed. At first not caring too much for her, but they also struggled socially, which made the two of them similar enough.
Esme and Kris became close as they were the only two humans in Hometown. She never expected Kris to talk much, and they didn't expect her to share more than she wanted. The two found comfort in each other's presence even if said friendship may have seemed "hollow" because of their lack of discussing anything personal. Though, the two seemed to know more about each other than either would let on. Perhaps from their own experiences?
Esme would frequently do future readings and palmestry on Kris, much to their dismay. But a few weeks before the events of Deltarune, Esme foresaw their fate as per the Prophecy. She would brush it off as fake ( something she never did ) in hopes that whatever it was she saw wasn't real.
